Working from Anywhere–And Failing
I have just one thing I want you to think about today. Failure.
So, that’s not perky and inspiring enough for you? Well, I honestly believe that once we wrap our minds around how we fail, we liberate ourselves to be open to enormous success.
Fear of failing blocks progress in every area of our lives—our relationships, our businesses, our organizations and homes…We don’t want to appear foolish. We don’t want to let others down. We are afraid the opportunity will be taken away for good.
But honestly, we all do fail. And look, we’re still here! Woo Hoo! I fail in some minor and some major ways every day, and yet I don’t roll around in mental muck full of self loathing. I still love me—though many are the days myself and I have discussions about our program for continuous quality management. Nothing you can do will diminish God’s love for you. Nothing. And remember…God is enough, so you are enough. The affirming opinions of your friends and colleagues are not why you do what you do. When that truth is at our core; when we do all that we do from a foundation of goodness; then we can risk failing.
What does this have to do with time management, you ask? Everything! The greatest toll our busy lives take on us is the added levels of stress and anxiety. Most of that comes when you are afraid you won’t get everything done…afraid you won’t do it all perfectly…afraid what your friends and colleagues would say if they saw you this way…afraid you’ll never be good enough. So, when you acknowledge that failure in any or all of those areas won’t be the end of you and the goodness you do, voilà! You suddenly have the power to still the waves of angst threatening to pull your spirit under. You have a center of calm that allows you to proceed with order through your list of to do’s. Instead of seeing the situation as a wall in front of you, you give yourself the sense of purpose to take it down one brick at a time. Those who really love you, keep on loving you, and—most important—you keep on loving yourself. You say, “hey, that hurt a bit, but it was a good learning experience!” and on you go to…
Be fearless! Risk Failure! Be Love Channels! Grow Goodness!!
