Working gratefullly
As we embark on the season of Christmas, I hope we each continue with grateful hearts. This week, I will be grateful for my work. I was approaching Monday with a sense of deep fatigue and a bit of that feeling of wistfulness that I can’t just skip my client meeting this morning and work on getting my house decorated for Christmas.
But Christmas comes to my heart, whether any external trappings occur or not. And I am so grateful that I have work to do. Not that I generate income, but that I can go do my job effectively and that I truly enjoy what I do. I hope each of you can find the joy in what you do today. Even if you don’t love your job, and even if it’s something you think of as mundane, joy can be found in it. Give thanks that you have the ability and the freedom to carry out even the simplest tasks. Listen to the whispers of Grace as you wait at a stop light; sit in a meeting; brew coffee (hooray!) or watch the sun dart behind clouds. And then go do good! The world is waiting for it.
I hope this day will be the first in a month full of Christmas gifts for each of you!
